The characters investigated rumours of goblins kidnapping a dwarf to the North of the City of Greyhawk, and discovered that the attack was staged: human bandits had attacked rather than goblins.
The characters chose not to investigate further, as the bandit was in an unexplored part of the castle, and instead continued their investigation of the Mouths of Madness.
They bypassed the goblin cave and instead discovered the following:
- A cave full of bats
- A cave full of snakes
- A watery cave of oozes and vermin, which led back to the goblin caves through a secret passage.
