The characters took a job to watch a pawnbroker store for Sennard Porbell while he dealt with urgent business in Hardby.
However, it turned out he was a Thieves' Guild accountant who was doing a runner.
The characters killed an aggressive human fighter who was looking for his magic sword, and took his 1000 gp. His friends fled.
Alton negotiated a deal with the Thieves Guild after their enforcers came calling, telling them what the characters knew - the Guild had no repercussions on the party.
