Events
The characters made their ways into Rauxes, using their papers to get by the guards.
The outer streets were deserted. Apparently the Red Plague had killed many; a plague that had started 30 years ago and reoccurred every six years or so.
The area around the palace was busier, with townsfolk selling gems and jewellery (looted from the dead) at a discount.
The characters entered the palace and were greeted by the chancellor, Mourtzouphlos.
They were given chambers, and personal slaves to bathe them. Some characters took advantage of the slaves. Garazhan started plotting to save his.
At the dinner, they learnt of the current political situation: Ivid VI had recently gained the throne, and had not yet taken a bride. Factions in the court were manuevering behind three choices.
The young nobles were split into two factions, which tended to support teams in a sporting contest. Elsbeth and friends made a special point of singling out one of the leaders and defeating him.
Garazhan asked questions about the architecture and the history of the palace, and determined that there were old chambers from the previous palace below, and that a entrance was in the kitchens. Oh, and he also organised to buy his slave girl.
