This week, I’ve bought a few DVDs…
Around the World in 80 Days, starring David Niven. It’s a classic “cameo” film, in which the object of the film, it seems, is to see how many famous actors you can get into it at once. Niven won the Oscar for this film, probably as a tribute to all his other films…
Citizen Kane, starring Mr Welles. Never seen it. Always meant to. This (like AtWi80D) is a deluxe edition with a second disc with a documentary, great audio tracks, and bunches of interesting info. Very happy to have it – as is Glenda.
Blazing Saddles, of which probably the less said the better. Glenda keeps referring to this film, so I’m going to have my revenge by making her watch it again. It’s a Mel Brooks film, which probably means that from 20%-50% of it is funny, and 50%-80% of it doesn’t work.
A History of Violence, starring Aragorn. I’m sorry, Viggo Mortensen. This film intrigued me when I first saw it reviewed, a few years ago. I didn’t get to see it, so I decided (on a whim) to pick up the discounted DVD today. Has anyone else seen it? Is it any good?
Running Scared, which I know nothing about. It was in the same packaged as AHoV. Anyone know anything about it at all?
