5E Adventure Review: Weapon on the Wall

Weapon on the Wall is the first product of Kelnas. It’s a 5-hour adventure for 2nd-4th level characters, and it has some interesting ideas in it. It also suffers greatly from how it introduces the adventure. The major problem is that the hook to the adventure is that there’s this very special weapon (denoted as “Weapon” in the text) that hangs on the wall of … Continue reading 5E Adventure Review: Weapon on the Wall

A list of places to play D&D in the Asia-Pacific region

One of the things I occasionally get asked is “where can I play D&D?” The answer to that is “anywhere you can find players!” But, of course, finding players can be the tricky bit. To aid the answering of this question, I’ve started up a list of clubs and stores that run D&D events. I’m also trying to tag them (as I get more information) … Continue reading A list of places to play D&D in the Asia-Pacific region

A Human Fighter for Curse of Strahd

Were you interested in using a pregenerated character for this season of D&D? I’m amusing myself by creating an entire party of them! Here’s the second on my list… a Human Fighter. This one works best if you have the Player’s Handbook and the Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide. Human Fighter Let me know if you see any problems with it and I’ll fix them! Bushfire

I wasn’t home. We weren’t allowed home for a few days. But we survived. We lost one hen (of two), a lot of trees, two sheds and their contents (including a year’s supply of cooking wood), and some plumbing, but we and the house are still here. It’s slightly distracted me from blogging and reviewing, however. I hope normal service will resume shortly. The pictures … Continue reading Bushfire

Days of Primeval Thule

We’ve been playing a Primeval Thule D&D 5E campaign recently. We escaped from slavers, and have been exploring the wilderness whilst attempting to find a home for us and the other escapees that accompany us. In the Stone Barrens, we discovered a number of towers. We are currently exploring one of the largest of them… In one of the Towers of the Stone Barrens, we … Continue reading Days of Primeval Thule

Confrontation at Candlekeep

We ran Confrontation at Candlekeep as a “Goodbye to 2015” special event at Guf Ballarat on December 19, 2015. The adventure is a multi-table event, where all the players are working together to stop Candlekeep from falling to the forces of Asmodeus. We had 4 tables participating: 23 players, 4 DMs and 1 co-ordinator. It isn’t a D&D Adventurers League event, but rather one that you can … Continue reading Confrontation at Candlekeep

Basic D&D Adventure Review – X3: Curse of Xanathon

The first adventure in the Expert series had been the fairly serious Isle of Dread. The second had been more of a funhouse dungeon in Castle Amber. Expert Set Adventure Module X3, Curse of Xanathon, wandered into some seriously weird territory. It is designed for 5-8 characters of levels 5-7. Douglas Niles had begun his writing career at TSR by writing the not-for-novices novice-series adventure … Continue reading Basic D&D Adventure Review – X3: Curse of Xanathon
