Monte Cook just put up a blog entry that referred to his new party of un-3e-core PCs. We came to that realisation yesterday – my Ulek game would have great trouble in being converted to 4e.
Consider:
* a Knight (PH2) – probably the easiest to convert
* a Dwarven Soulknife (XPH)
* a Human Bard/Rogue/Druid/Fochluchan Lyrist (CAdv)
* a Half-Elf Soulborn (MoInc)
* an Azurin Incarnate (MoInc)
Heh.
The only two “normal” PCs are the cohorts – a Wizard and a Cleric.
Well, they said the Knight abilities are being butchered by the Paladin and the Figher, so that’s probably the easiest to adapt.
If the Wizard/Warlock/Sorcerer has a summon weapon sort, you can make him a gish (but more of the figher-type).
The Fochluchan Lyrist is probably the hardest of all but then again, the likes of Fochluchan Lyrists goes to show why 3E needs prestige classes.
The Soulborn looks like to be the 4E Paladin depending on how they build it, minus the soulmelds (well, you can’t win ’em all).
Again, no help for the Incarnate as far as soulmelds/incarnum/chakra goes but the Warlord or Paladin might help depending on how they turn out in the fianl product.
