Going to be another 40+ degree day here, and it’s already hot. Urgh.
Yesterday, we spent a lot of time playing BattleTech. Rich, Josh, Randy and I went at it in two big scenarios; the first a Supply Run of 4 vs 4 Mechs in heavily wooded terrain that lasted about 4 hours (~13 turns).
The next scenario was a Pursuit of 8 vs 6 Mechs in open ground that lasted about 3 hours (~7 turns).
We had a great time, even if the dice didn’t like Randy and me much. Watching a ‘mech run off the map (we had to stop it) when it had one point of internal structure on its left leg left just hurt.
Tonight, my brother and his wife come for a visit, and after them, the cool change.
Can’t come quickly enough – it’s dreadfully hot.
Hopefully Merric and his players didn’t overheat. =)
Everything alright?
Is everything alright? I’ve read that there are many fires raging in SE Australia.
Re: Everything alright?
Thankfully, the fires are a moderate way away from us. The weather was very scary, though.
Over 100 people have died in the fires over the weekend. We’re in a bit of isolated bushland surrounded by farms; the worst fires were in our heavy forests.
Hi, Merric!
Fires aside, it’s hard for me to be sympathetic about your weather. In the three years I’ve been in the UK, we haven’t had a summer–it’s literally slipped from spring to fall somewhere around late July every year. And now we’re enjoying the coldest, wettest winter in decades.
40 degrees? What I wouldn’t give for a taste of that! (Or even, say, 20!)

Yes, well – that’s England for you! 🙂
But certainly, I’d take our weather over England’s any day. How the English came up with cricket I have no idea… well, possibly with poor enough players, a four or five day match might actually be finished with all the rain interruptions.
I hope things go well for you this year; news of England’s financial woes are worrying.
Cheers,
Merric
