Well, Thursday evening through Saturday went like this:
Thursday evening: BattleTech
Friday lunch: played Cosmic Encounter with my students. (Go Virus!)
Friday afternoon: went to see Milk
Friday evening: played Star Wars RPG: Dawn of Defiance
Saturday afternoon: played BattleTech
Saturday evening: played Starcraft: the Board Game.
Yeah, something of a good weekend.
BattleTech was something of a disaster for Rich & Josh’s team, which means that it was very good for Randy, Sarah and me. They’ve negotiated the first touchpoint, but all their mechs are really badly damaged and they don’t have all that much in the way of funds. Looks like they’ll need to go on a supply run soon.
Mind you, our Touchpoint will be coming up next. That’ll be a big mission, and I hope we get enough salvage out of it… something that I don’t think is true of the Sabres.
Star Wars was frustrating. Why was it frustrating? Mainly due to the nature of the RPG. We were sent to Coruscant to find information and immediately ran into anti-alien bigotry which restricted us terribly. Of course, if we’d had a party of humans (like my character) it wouldn’t have happened. If this hadn’t been a RPG with the PCs set by player choice, I would have been sent with a back-up team of humans to investigate… Adam’s alien wouldn’t have been there.
Urgh.
Star Craft was also frustrating, because, once again, we were teaching the game to new players. It’s not a difficult game, but because the gametime is so compressed, if you don’t grok it in your first turn, you’re pretty much out of the game. This leads to annoyed players, especially in a 6-player game with two new players.
Milk was enjoyable, and so was Cosmic Encounter. I now have to design a dungeon for Friday’s D&D session. Bring on Monster Manual 2!
What level is your party?
The Greyhawk campaign are wandering about 5th-7th level at present.
My Pyramid of Shadows group are 7th-9th level.
Phoo… The adventure I’m currently working on is only about 3rd level. It’s no help. 😀 Okay!
