The latest MilSims sale is on. I’ve ordered a few items…
Men of Iron (GMT wargame of the middle ages)
Napoleon’s Triumph (very highly regarded wargame)
A couple of BattleTech books – Intersteller Players #2, Blake Documents (both for the Jihad era)
Knizia’s “Formula Racing”, and the Settlers expansion, “Artisans and Benefactors”, which makes Settlers of Catan a 2 player game.
I use these posts to figure out what I should look up at Boardgame Geek. Just by name and your brief description, Men of Iron sounds interesting.
Men of Iron is meant to be relatively quick and easy – which is a great surprise, considering it’s designed by Richard Berg (SPQR, Blackbeard). When I play wargames solo, I find it very hard to play more than an hour at a sitting – I go and take breaks. From the reviews I’ve seen of it, the scenarios are very unbalanced – this one is more of a solo game, but the game length seems quite good.
The game I’m really looking forward to – when it’s eventually released – is “Kingdom of Heaven”, a card-driven game about the Crusades. Nine scenarios, all quite different, from what I’ve been told, and gorgeous graphic design.
