Well, the latest errata to D&D 4E has come out, and this time it’s targeted Nathaniel: Sorry, Nathaniel – Slashing Wake now only does damage once/turn, not every time you teleport in a turn. Your minion-destroying rounds are now reduced in effectiveness. Mind you, you still kill lots of minions if they’re surrounding you…
However, there are some really interesting changes here. The Wizard and Cleric have seen a number of powers changing to make them more effective or possibly more interesting to use. Let’s have a look:
Magic Missile, yes the spell no-one takes, no longer requires a “to hit” roll. It automatically deals a set amount of damage. 2+Int mod (plus implement enhancement) at heroic, 3+Int mod at paragon, and 5+Int mod at epic. Is this worth it? Perhaps still no. Adam will likely let me know!
Bless, Shield of Faith and Purify, all cleric utility powers, have been changed from “Standard actions” to “Minor actions” to use. Does this make them a lot better? It certainly does!
Tumble, the thief utility, now allows movement of up to the Thief’s speed rather than 1/2 that.
Dispel Magic is now an Encounter utility rather than a Daily.
Wizard’s Escape (Arcane Power) is now a Daily, not an Encounter. I’m pretty sure Adam has that power – and has frustrated me enough times with it.
Those are the major changes that affect our campaign (or could potentially affect our campaign). Honestly, there are fewer changes than I expected when I scanned the first page. I guess when Essentials comes out shortly, more changes (esp. to Wizard encounter powers) will appear…
