Citadels

One of the better card games I have is Citadels, currently published by Fantasy Flight Games. You’re trying to build a city of eight districts. Each turn, you draft one role (Assassin, Thief, Mage, King, Merchant, Bishop, Architect or Warlord) and then use the special ability of that role and (hopefully) build a district.

It’s extremely entertaining and I strongly recommend it. Best with 5 players, but plays 2-6 (and people play it with all numbers, so go for it).

What I didn’t realise was that it was implemented on brettspielwelt.de – the game has its German name, Ohne Furcht und Adel.

Rightio! Another game to start playing on BSW!

Currently, you may find me playing the following games online there:

  • Settlers of Catan
  • Carcassonne
  • Caylus
  • Power Grid
  • Thurn und Taxis
  • Lost Cities
  • Pillars of the Earth
  • Transamerica
  • San Juan
  • Ra

They’ve also got Imperial, but I’ve not been game to try it yet, and also Princes of Florence…

    1. Ooh – 8 would be really fun. 🙂

Rodney, do you ever get the feeling you’re living in the Golden Age of board/card games? Heck, games in general! 🙂

  1. Ha! Citadels, too, is amazing. This is gumbyavatar again. I maight check out that brettspielwelt.de link… do you gotta be German?

      1. Almost everyone speaks English anyway, but basically I have just picked up the following phrases in German:

“Darf ich?” = May I? or, as it’s used, May I join this game?

to which the reply can be
“Jo”, “Ja”, “Klar”, “Gerne” which basically means yes.

As long as you have the proper language set in your preferences (.prop) file, the cards will display in English.
