Merry Christmas everyone!
I’ve spent my afternoon at Randy’s place, playing board games (surprise, surprise). I’m now at home waiting for Chrismas dinner, which will probably be followed by a few comedy DVDs – I gave my father the complete Monty Python’s Flying Circus set, along with the Christmas episodes of Dad’s Army. Glenda got a trio of Clint Eastwood movies: The Eiger Sanction, Play Misty for Me, and the one she really wanted, The Beguiled.
Me? I got a new shirt, a gift voucher for a bookstore, some chocolate, and Randy gave me Taluva, a Eurogame I’ve never heard of. Ranked #162 on the geek. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to see that is is recommended with 2 players, because Randy doesn’t have the ‘net at home, so we didn’t play it.
Instead we played Through the Ages (I love that game), in which Randy completely and utterly destroyed me. My military was non-existent – about 4 to his 32! – and he launched a Holy War that would have taken away somewhere over 10 of my population. That’s a very great deal. I conceded…
We also played two games of Dominion, splitting them, and a game of Combat Commander: Mediterranean, which I won. Good times.
Randy couldn’t stop taking about BSG, which shows just how good the game is. 🙂
Anyway, I’m off to learn the rules of Taluva. Tomorrow I’ll watch some of the Boxing Day Test (cricket, for all of my foreign friends), and on Saturday we get more boardgaming.
Life’s good. I hope you had a good day!
Merry Christmas!
