I was just reading some excellent blog entries over on the Scrapyard Armory page, and I noticed some discussion of damage to Mech Warriors in the Chaos Campaign (an extension of the Warchest campaign that we use our BattleTech Sword & Dragon campaign).
Let’s face it: there aren’t any rules in S&D about damaged warriors. Do they heal? How quickly?
My thought is that in future scenarios, Mechwarriors don’t automatically heal; instead they heal 1 wound for every mission they sit out. That seems an easy way to abstract it. We may change it if MechWarriors take lots of damage that they don’t heal, of course.
We’re keeping the TW system of XP for pilots rather than the WP system I proposed (based on Chaos Campaign), which just doesn’t work.
I’m not using the dossier system (with paperclipped pilots) proposed in the article, though. I prefer pilots to stay with their mechs a lot more.
