I really shouldn’t visit BoardGameGeek. I keep discovering games I want.
I’ve just added two games to my wishlist there. What’s particularly stupid about this is that they’re both the same game. Well, almost.
The game in question is Age of Steam, a more complex version of Railroad Tycoon, which I think is really great. Age of Steam is ranked higher. The problem? It’s about to be reprinted *and* a new version will come out at the same time. Age of Steam 3rd edition. Two different companies are involved, but one designer. How did this come about? I have no idea. I just want both versions.
Add to this that I still want to pick up a copy of Railroad Tycoon for myself – the company that made it is now defunct, but there are a few copies floating about at present – and I’m wanting to get the same game (sort of) three times. And it’s not like Carcassonne where the game takes 30 minutes to play. No, RRT and its ilk take 2-3 hours each. But RRT is really, really good… and AoS is meant to be even better!
There are only 23 games on my wishlist at present. That’s not too bad, surely?
There’s no such thing as wishing for too many games!
Yeah, probably not. 🙂
I need to get my list of Boardgames I Play (rather than just own) to above 100!
Cheers,
Merric
Hopefully when Gleemax is up and running (not anytime soon), that help alleviate some of people’s board game frustrations.
Yeah. I’m looking forward to that – I haven’t played Axis and Allies for a long time now, and it should be an excellent way to play RoboRally.
Of course, I already play Ticket To Ride online, and also use Brettspeilwelt.de to play a bunch of Eurogames (like Settlers and Carcassonne). They’ve also just implemented Imperial!
Cheers,
Merric
