Snow Elves is a short supplement that adds a new subrace of elves to the game. I guess I do not have to tell you where they live?

The supplement is written well and details the lifestyle and culture of these dwellers of the frozen wastes. I very much appreciate some of the touches; it is nice to consider that spices are rare in these lands, and so when they do become available, the snow elves have great feasts. However, given the harshness of the land in which they live, it is not surprising that the snow elves are not that charitable to criminals.

I enjoyed reading through the reasons that snow elves might become adventurers. My favourite is the elf who tasted an exotic dish and now is adventuring and looking for that dish! (No, I am not obsessed with food. Why do you ask?)

The mechanical implementation of the snow elves is satisfactory. It is not that inspiring. Resistance to cold damage, check. Ability to ignore cold environmental hazards, check. A slightly altered weapon list, check.

However, when I compare it to the abilities of the other elven subraces, neither are they all that inspiring. These mechanics fit in alongside them. Resistance to cold is the one ability that I would pay attention to as DM to see if it is problematic, but it will probably be fine.

Snow Elves gives a few fun hooks to base role-playing off, and an effective mechanical implementation of a snow elf subrace. With a lot of campaigns taken place in the frozen lands of Icewind Dale, I am sure players will appreciate it!
