11 hours of gaming last Saturday, or thereabouts. Well, we probably took an hour off for tea. (Take that, Randy! )
Six of us, that is Mike, Rich, Josh, Mat, Craig and me. We got to play my new game of TransEuropa, my relatively new game of Drakon, my “I’m not that old honest”, game of Niagara, my really old game of Dune, and finish up everything up with a huge game of the World of Warcraft boardgame.
A few notes:
Transeuropa – Mike was very good at this. Josh showed the most improvement, having a horror first round, but was able to pull himself back to 3rd place by game’s end. It’s a very quick and fast train game, which actually works best with 6 players. 30-45 minutes, and it’ll see use again!
Niagara – Rich surprised us with the win. Josh and I went over the falls, and it was a fun-filled game; 6 players, about 40 minutes. No luck involved, just lots of chaos. You’re collecting gems near the niagara falls by canoe!
Drakon – I won one! Mind you, it was closer than it looked at the end, and had Mike and Craig coming very close at times. Stealing gold from a dragon is fun, especially when the other players get to be lunch for the dragon!
Dune – We abandoned this before it was finished, due to general dissatifaction with the game. It was a bloody affair, and the worms didn’t come up in time. I still find it an interesting game, though not all of my friends do.
World of Warcraft boardgame – The Horde was victorious! This was a 6-hour marathon that included both expansions. I really need another set of (30) dice. It has its problems (length), but I find it quite entertaining.
If you played the games with me on the weekend, would you mind rating your experiences of them? Use the following chart (from BGG):
10 – Outstanding. Always want to play it and expect this will never change.
9 – Excellent Game. Always want to play it.
8 – Very good game. I like to play. Probably I’ll suggest it, and will never turn down a game.
7 – Good game, usually willing to play
6 – Ok game, some fun or challenge at least, will play sporadically if in the right mood
5 – Average game, slightly boring. Take it or leave it.
4 – Not so good. It doesn’t get me, but could be talked into it on occasion.
3 – Likely wouldn’t play this again though could be convinced. Bad.
2 – Extremely annoying game. Won’t play this ever again.
1 – Defies description of a game. You won’t catch me dead playing this. Clearly broken.
For me, the ratings for the afternoon:
Transeuropa 8; Niagara 8; Drakon 7; Dune 6.5; World of Warcraft 7.
(If you didn’t play but still want to rate, go ahead).
