D&D goes F.A.S.T.

One of the odder launches occurred this week: Dungeons & Dragons now has its own dedicated streaming channel.

Except almost everything you’d assume about the service is wrong.

Just at the moment, it is showing three original shows – “Encounter Party”, “Faster, Purple Worm! Kill! Kill!”, and “Heroes’ Feast” – and repeats of the D&D Cartoon from the 80s. Possibly other things, but I haven’t heard what they are.

It is a free, ad-supported channel (Oh very well, TV channel, which is where FAST gets its name from), which is unavailable to most people outside the United States.

And to make things even weirder: from what I gather, it’s not an on-demand channel. You’ve got to watch it live. Whatever is streaming when you turn it on is your only choice to watch. Miss the first three episodes of a show and want to go back and watch them? You’re likely out of luck, unless they’re repeated (probably at an odd time).

Gods know how much of this is going to change going forward. It’s not like I can watch it, as I live in Australia. But even those people who can watch it are having trouble finding it. I’ve seen someone say they bookmarked it only for the bookmark to vanish.

It’s on Freevee (an initiative of Amazon Prime Video) and Plex. If you’re in the right countries.

No announcement on Twitter (X), no post on the D&D Beyond site.

Has it officially launched yet? I know the folks behind the “Encounter Party” show are tweeting about it; but I’d be surprised if many are aware of it!

    1. Thanks for the link! I only knew about it because of a few people chatting about it. I wonder if they’ll have a big advertising push later.
