Doctor Who, Yggsburgh and other things

Doctor Who was merely “ok” on Sunday (Planet of the Ood), as compared to the awesomeness that was The Fires of Pompeii the week before. I made up for that with watching two classic Dr Who stories I’d just picked up – The Curse of Fenric and Ghostlight. They’re two of my favourite stories from the classic era, both from the final series before the … Continue reading Doctor Who, Yggsburgh and other things

Last 3.5e books, and first C&C books.

MilSims has delivered the final 3.5e books I ordered about a month ago. So, that’s that for 3.5e purchases, I guess. For those who are interested, the books were: * Cormyr: the Tearing of the Weave* Shadowdale: the Scouring of the Land* Fortress of the Yuan-Ti Together, they finished off two 3.5e adventure trilogies. (The full list can be found in this thread). I started playing D&D back in 1982 or so; details are rather fuzzy this far away. In particular, I was introduced to both AD&D … Continue reading Old editions never die

The mechanical problems with Multiclassing in D&D 3E

With the recent flood of new classes from Wizards, the problems with the 3e multi-classing system have become readily apparent. Of course, these may not be considered as problems by all. However, the problems that the Eldritch Knight and Mystic Theurge were designed to fix have become what might be a troubling part of the 3.5e system. What are these issues, and are they indeed … Continue reading The mechanical problems with Multiclassing in D&D 3E

The Uniques – Who is King Snurre?

THRONE ROOM AND AUDIENCE CHAMBER. Two steps of white veined black marble lead up to this area. The floor is a deep red polished stone, the huge stone pillars of polished obsidian, between them a massive throne of jet and black and white banded onyx, the whole inlaid with sard and set with 12 fire opals and 12 rubies. The walls are inlaid with colored … Continue reading The Uniques – Who is King Snurre?
