For the past three years, I’ve been running an AD&D campaign on Saturday nights at my FLGS, Goodgames Ballarat. It has mostly run weekly, although there have been times when I’ve run it fortnightly.
With the release of the fifth edition of Dungeons & Dragons just around the corner, I’m getting quite eager to run the Tyranny of Dragons adventure. As a result, I’m going to be changing what I run on Saturday nights.
My AD&D (Frost Barbarian) campaign will continue, but on a fortnightly basis. On the other weeks, I’ll be running a fifth edition D&D campaign. Eventually I’ll start running Tyranny of Dragons, but I’ll begin by running The Lost Mine of Phandelver, the starter set adventure. For the Saturday night group, this will be part of the Adventurers’ League program, and the characters they play could be played in any of the Adventurers’ League events. At present, I suspect I’ll run this game on the same night that Lee runs his Pathfinder game, and I’ll continue with AD&D on Callan’s Rifts night.
The latest article from Wizards of the Coast on the Adventurers’ League is very useful. It gives us enough information to start running The Lost Mine as soon as it is released. Here, this is likely to be the actual release date (July 15). This means that I could start running it on Saturday 19th July. I think this is actually a Rifts night, but I’m probably going to be so enthusiastic about it that I’ll run the game both on the 19th and the 26th before settling into the fortnightly schedule. We’ll see how things go.
For the time being, here are the links to the character sheet and the log sheet the campaign will use.
I hope this works for everyone. Although my preferred table size for the fifth edition game would be five players, I’m quite prepared to run up to seven players at the table.
We’ll see how it goes. If you have any feedback, feel free to contact me!
