Cricket

Well, an amazing last over for the India vs Australia test match. Three wickets to Michael Clarke, a part-time spinner, and an record-equalling victory to Australia. I only saw the last over on tv (busy playing poker), but I’ve had the radio on all day, so it’s been exciting. Umpiring was atrocious. Steve Bucknor needs to retire. Not sure about Mark Benson either… However, some … Continue reading Cricket

Poker story

Picture this: I’m playing facebook poker, and my hole cards are a 10-5 of clubs. I buyinto the hand because I’m one of the blinds. Normally, I’d fold on such a hand. The flop: 5 Hearts, 5 Spades, 10 Diamonds. Oh, that’s good. I raise a little. Most people stay in with me. The turn: 10 Hearts. Oh, wow. I can’t lose now. I raise a little … Continue reading Poker story

Dawn of Defiance… character musings

As I … Continue reading Dawn of Defiance… character musings

(I’ve gotten tremendously behind on writing session reports on BoardGameGeek, for instance…) I’ve just been working my way through some Jack McDevitt books. McDevitt is a really good science-fiction writer, whose … Continue reading Long time, no posts

Pratchett – an Embuggerance

Here’s the link to the original post: http://www.paulkidby.com/news/index.html And the text: AN EMBUGGERANCE Folks, I would have liked to keep this one quiet for a little while, but because of upcoming conventions and of course the need to keep my publishers informed, it seems to me unfair to withhold the news.  I have been diagnosed with a very rare form of earlyonset Alzheimer’s, which lay … Continue reading Pratchett – an Embuggerance

Dreadful news for Pratchett fans…

Terry has revealed he has early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. I’m trying to find his original post (the newspapers are reporting it as being on Paul Kidby’s site, but I’m having no luck in finding it… anyone?) This really has me shocked and surprised and saddened. I came to and appreciation of the Discworld late, but I’ve really enjoyed Terry’s last ten or twenty books greatly… Continue reading Dreadful news for Pratchett fans…
