Doctor Who, Yggsburgh and other things

Doctor Who was merely “ok” on Sunday (Planet of the Ood), as compared to the awesomeness that was The Fires of Pompeii the week before. I made up for that with watching two classic Dr Who stories I’d just picked up – The Curse of Fenric and Ghostlight. They’re two of my favourite stories from the classic era, both from the final series before the … Continue reading Doctor Who, Yggsburgh and other things

Thoughts on the “Against the Giants” set of D&D Miniatures

I’ve just bought my first D&D Miniatures since War of the Dragon Queen, two years ago. (Well, almost. I bought the new starter last month). I bought one case of the new Against the Giants set. For those wondering why I haven’t bought any DDM in the past two years, it’s partly to do with the amount of money I’ve been spending on boardgames – … Continue reading Thoughts on the “Against the Giants” set of D&D Miniatures

Last 3.5e books, and first C&C books.

Spelling, grammar and sentence construction are things you take for granted… until you discover that they’ve gone missing. Then you realise exactly how important they are. “The following are descriptions of the more notable places and people … Continue reading My eyes! My poor, bleeding eyes!

The trouble with speciality priests

Once upon a time, there were these D&D designers who decided that clerics were boring. Why should every cleric have the same powers, even though one cleric was a priest of the god of battle, and another was a priest of the god of love… Now, all of this makes a lot of sense. It really does. Why should the powers that one god grant be … Continue reading The trouble with speciality priests

Musings on Keep part 3

Greg, Mat and half of Sarah were absent for this session (Sarah counts as half because she was half asleep)… the nett result of which was to cause a curiously disjointed session, at least to my mind. I don’t think the weather was helping. A lot of the customary banter was missing and it was fascinating to see how much less of a “life” the … Continue reading Musings on Keep part 3
